Catch a fish, watch an eagle take flight and swim in a heated pool!
The Setting
The Campground – open from May 15-October 12 - is located within the 149 wooded acres that comprise Salt Rock State Park. Nestled within a bend of the Shetucket River, the campground abuts, and has access to over one mile of river frontage that is stocked with rainbow and brown trout and broodstock Atlantic salmon, and offers tremendous fishing.
The Facility
Salt Rock State Park Campground offers 71 tent and recreational vehicle (RV) sites that have access to shower and toilet buildings, water, fire rings and the campground’s dumping station. Of these 71 sites, nine have electric and water hook-ups and fourteen have electric, water and sewer hook-ups. The campground also offers two heated swimming pools, volleyball and basketball courts, a Playscape, and a large grassy recreational area ideal for softball games. Please note that there is a two pet per site limit.
Park Features
Salt Rock State Park is located within what the National Park Service has described as the “last Green Valley” in an otherwise often developed and populated corridor between Boston and New York. The park is surrounded by a vast area of preserved state lands that include the 920-acre Mohegan State Forest and Waldo Tract Wildlife Management Area and the 500-acre Talbot Wildlife Management Area. This large pristine tract of land allows for spectacular wildlife viewing or the simple enjoyment of taking a scenic stroll along the river.
